Thurstone, L.L. (1887-1955) - Psychometric Glossary
A U.S.-based graduate of Cornell University, who developed the standard deviation of IQ scores and developed the Thurstone Scale, the very first formal technique for measuring a subject’s attitude. Thurstone also was one of the founders of the Psychometrica journal and the Psychometric Society.
